  • Norbert BBS in the UK

    Hi,

    Just a quick advert for Norbert BBS at norbertbbs.dyndns.org

    Norbert BBS is based in the UK and ran on Remote Access circa 15 years
    ago. It was once the Fidonet host for London UK (2:254/*) and Fidonet
    feed for the Republic of Ireland (2:26*/*).

    I have spent the past few days migrating some of my old BBS backups to Synchronet. It will be a very long process of getting the BBS look and
    feel right.

    My reason for posting this advert is that I am hopeful of finding a few
    other players who want to join in a daily LORD game; a new game started yesterday...

    Well it is still very early days but a few of my friends (who had never
    called a BBS before) have started calling in every day via my FlashTerm webpage. FlashTerm is fantastic for encouraging first time BBS users!

    My new users are playing both LORD and Planets and then chatting about
    the games on Facebook. I reckon there are lots of potential users who
    will enjoy classic text based RPG games!

    Well there are a few of us playing LORD & Planets now. One of my users
    is starting to overtake me (which is both good and bad). Norbert joined
    the Fidonet nodelist this week and has today started importing Region 25
    (UK) echos.

    This my January advert for Norbert BBS :-)

    Since restarting Norbert BBS last month a few of us are enjoying our
    daily LORD and Planets. Oli is winning on Planets and I am winning on
    LORD. I do love these games but the users always end up beating me!

    Norbert BBS also appeared in last week's Fidonet nodelist as 2:250/13 (formerly 2:254/292 about 15 years ago) and is now picking up echomail
    from the Zone 2 (Europe) Region 25 (UK) area.

    It is still very early days but the BBS is starting to take shape! You
