Dear Mro
I wasn't mad about your short comment. In this regard, I agree with you absolutely
that if something is not accepted, it will become difficult for the operator at some
point. For me it's like this (time factor) that I still have 7 weeks until I retire. So the
time and!!! the cost factor plays a minor role for me. The program has been purchased,
the server costs 24 euros/month. So absolutely manageable here!
Of course I can't tell you when I'll fall dead from my chair, but I don't plan on dying
this after a year. It still makes fun, the topic is very very interesting for me and it
was clear to me from the start that the ÿsceneÿ could react cautiously to it. Precisely
for the reasons you has described.
I will also be expanding the forum to include a chat function in the near future, so
that real-time conversation will also be possible. Visually, I still have to look for a
design that would fit the theme well. This is also absolutely ok for me in terms of
price! The main things are paid!
The same is true with my BBS. It's more about bringing the technology and content
to a very good level. Everything has actually been purchased and only the annual
operating costs (electricity) have to be paid. To be honest, I don't care whether
someone actually calls or not. I also don't throw away my fishing rod just because
no fish's are biting! Then I misunderstood a hobby or this hobby!
But we would still be happy if the hobby could be shared and supported. Especially
here in Germany, where the scene is getting smaller and smaller. Perhaps ??? a lighthouse for the hobby, our hobby! It could be, but it doesn't have to be!
We spend so much time every day on this, our hobby. Therefore, I did not think it
was inappropriate to point out this opportunity to gather experience. Everyone out
there has to know for themselves whether they want to give things a chance or whether it will be ignored from the start!
Best wishes
Mike

Since, as with all ideas, it only works if many people support it, I would be happy if
DOVE-Net could support this idea? It's not without reason that a lot of
people still enjoy
nope
let me expand on this. every couple of years a guy comes along that wants to
do this. he may set it up or not. then he takes it down and disappears.
by all means make a link site to thebbs.org's various sites, jason scott's bbs
software site(s), various mailer websites, and include a howto for setting up
fidonet.
there just isnt a need for a nexus of bbs support and information right now, especially if someone's going to leave in a year because they have no time.
