Have you lived in Montreal all your life? I lived there from
about 1990 to 1996. I was a visible minority in my apartment
building (but I digress). Do you remember MTLnet? It was an
FTN-based network operating as Zone 17.

Well I lived around Quebec all my life, but in Montreal since oddly, 1996.

wasn't using bbs anymore back then, left it for the internet :-/ use to
run one (bbs) in the Joliette area in the early 80 until around 1988
    (running on a TRS-80 coco)

When back to around 2000, dropped the ball in around 2010 and now with
MtlGeek since 2004. An habit that is hard to quit.

So where are you located now? Were in Montreal for studies?

Do you know Pierre? He lives in Montreal and uses one of those computers,
    too.

    Now = Ontario.

But I was in Montreal working at Canadian Marconi.
I lived in the Ville St. Laurent area, on the West side of the
crazy Laurenteids hwy. I could take the train (a fine 15 minute
walk to get to the station: Vertu) to work every day (the last
stop before it enters the tunnel to go to downtown). Then, when
Marconi relocated to Saint Laurent.. I would either drive or
    take the bus.

    I operated the Vis_a_Vis_Communications BBS.

Toronto area I guess. Would have probably moved off also but the wife as
a job in healthcare so her credentials being recognizes there would be
some bureaucracy we are not ready to go into yet.

Oh yeah, around there you need a car, public transport is not really
    practical whatever they says

Wasn't back on the scene back then :-(
