SBBS is my main system, and I'm very happy with it, but the old me
prefers my GAP and RA, as thats what I cut my teeth with in the old
days. I'm just glad people like Mike made the program Netfoss and
net2bbs, so they can still be enjoyed still today.

One neat thing about the dial-up '90s was the diversity of the BBS scene. In our local network, I ran Maximus, another board ran Telegard, the main hub
was RA, another board ran Spitfire and yet another ran Searchlight.

My local underground boards ran GAP and Forum, and I had 2 WWIV boards I called.

I don't remember seeing Spitfire or WWIV in my area, but there was the Telegard board I ran (and am again), the "big" BBS in my area ran PCBoard and there was a smaller spattering of RemoteAccess or Maximus boards around.

Just before I shut my board down before I moved there was a fellow who put up a new board running Iniquity which I thought was neat looking.

That's true. The main software I remember around the central Arkansas
area ranged from GT Power to Wildcat, to Spitfire, to Renegade, to Opus,
among many others. I have a bulletin online of the BBS's that are "Gone
But Not Forgotten" in Arkansas...most from the central part of the state.

This is so true. In fact I rebuilt my 1990s Spitfire BBS and its running on the same system as my sync bbs @ http://x-bit.org:2323. I even found a bulletin date bug, opened a ticket w/ Mike Woltz and he fixed it w/ some new code for me :)
