I don't really like that style of headphones in general. They aren't really comfortable to me, though I haven't tried Apple's. I don't think I'd want to use the wireless ones, for the same reason you mention - I'd think it would be too easy for them to fall out, and I might lose them.

I've not used airpods specifically, but I find that style I have the same problem with. They seemed like a great idea but you appear to need to have the right ear shape for them to work.

I find that if I consciously wipe the grease/oil off of them before and after every use they tend to stay in better, but I'm not one of those people that can
walk around all day with an airpod in without it falling out.

Plus the people that walk around all day with an airpod in their head look like
idiots.

I don't think so...in fact mine have noise cancelling so they do precisely the opposite :)

I can attest that my airpods were much more uncomfortable that my hearing aides. While backpacking, I would take my hearing aides out when I got to bed.
I put the airpods in so I could listen to some video and/or podcasts. The airpods were so uncomfortable that it's only a few minutes and I pull them out and turn off the phone.
