• Changing default telnet size to 24x40

From Mikek@VERT/SNOCONE to All on Sat Dec 10 08:17:52 2022
When trying to access my BBS from my Atari 800XL the terminal size is 24x40 but the BBS is not detecting that and keeps sending 80 columns. What would be the way to either set the default to 24x40 or automatically adapt?

Do you have an Atari terminal progarm that supports ANSI? If so, it should enable the BBS to auto-detect the terminal dimensions.

If the terminal doesn't support ANSI, there's also the Telnet "Negotiate window size" command that the terminal can send to the BBS and it will recognize the new terminal dimensions.

If the terminal does not support ANSI or Telnet "Negotiate window size", then the user will have to set the terminal dimensions manually in their user settings ("D" command from the main menu of the default/classic command shell).

What terminal program are you using?
Doh, I was about to suggest Ice-T, but
all except the very first version won't
    run on a stock 800XL. There's always
    FlickerTerm80, OmniCom, AnsiTerm, and
    Kermit65, though!

By the way, are you on the Atari BBSes?
