per dovenet discussion, @-codes should be expanded and replaced in outgoing emails from sysop/system generated messages before they're sent rather than leaving them in and expending when the email is read. This will mitigate the issue of @BBS@ and @ALIAS@ being displayed in the editor when responding to such mails.
