Got it working with DOS-X and X00.
However, it runs kinda slow :-(
DOSBox-X is an emulator. :)
The *emulated* baud in that version of DOSBox-X is 9600 by default, but can be increased to 115200 if you're using the MODE.COM utility as described in my writeup. I'd suggest double checking to ensure that rundosdoor.cmd includes the "echo mode ..." line.
I have not tried any versions of DOSBox-X after 0.83.10, so as far as I know there is no way to get a faster speed than the 115200 emulated baud. If 115200 is too slow for your liking, you can try the earliest known version of DOSBox with a socket inheritance patch (DOSBox 0.63) as outlined at
http://dosbox.bbsdev.net. I ran this version for a long time before discovering DOSBox-X, and it ran very fast for me, albeit with noticeably higher CPU utilization.
Just another thought, because this is an action game, it could probably benefit from being slowed down a tad. That animated title screen alone blows by too quickly at full telnet speed in my opinion.
