    PS I am running 3.17c

    What command shell are you using? Most (or all?) of the default shells don't poll for and display new node alerts continuously.

    Thanks, I was just wondering if telegrams/pages are designed to be shown live if at a menu prompt without a receiver key press?

    The reality is sort of the reverse of your question. The prompt needs to be designed to poll for these notifications and then display them to the user.

    I'm not sure if any of the default command shells do this.

    That depends on the prompt. The Ctrl-P (private message) prompt does continually poll for/display messages. Most other prompts do not.
