Hey all!
I thought that my SMTP configurations were working fine but just realized that after rebooting the system inbound messages are no longer working. It worked once for an inbound test but further emails in just bounced as undeliverable.
I'm running on an Ubuntu based VPS and don't see any reference to other services running on port 25 or 587.
Additionally, emails go out but are marked as potential spam by Google. That's probably going to need some modern DNS entries to correct.
I'm guessing there's a guide I missed somewhere...
Check ufw (firewall) and add the ports in question for inbound.
Also, for outbound, you might consider sendgrid's free tier, which
includes 12k outbound emails a month, which should cover a typical BBS's usage.
I have mine setup to relay out through sendgrid, which works pretty
well, when I was active before never had an issue with flagging on my
outbound emails such as new user password/contact etc.
