From Patch@21:1/101 to All on Wed Apr 10 07:24:20 2024
This time around in our resurrection I wanted to get the original BBS software running, I may still plan on adding Mystic BBS to it as well.

I've been actively working on the BBS to get it more aligned with the original back in the 90's.

I am hoping that the BBS scene isn't dead, as I've had no callers to the BBS yet.

Stop by and say HI, and maybe field a WWIV question or two. =)

The BBS scene isn't dead but it does seem to be in a
deep coma. I ran a BBS back in the 90s called The Lost
City. I do miss those glory days but I also think that
bulletin boards are still a lot of fun. The Sysops are
mostly a bunch of old men now but hopefully we can
get more people of all ages involved. It will take
some work. Young people I talk to have absolutely no
idea what a BBS is. I guess it is up to us old-timers
    to educate them.

Actually if you get on MRC you will see there a many users that are in their 20s and even younger. Talk with them all the time. Most are seeking knowledge of the older times or just like the idea of a nonstandard way of doing things. Even though this was the standard years ago. I call it the underground re-imagined

That is good to hear. I do think that younger people should
know something about the way the Internet works and the
possibilities of it all. There is so much more to it than
    the World Wide Web.

I ran into the same issue, where a younger/earlier generation froend asked the question 'What's a BBS?"

I actually want to see if I can get my youngest interested in it so that she can carry on the legacy when I am 'gone'.

    Thanks for responding!
