Tiny, I love you man, but I have to disagree. Nick might be nice sometimes, he might even be a decent guy if you get to know him but in this instance, he was rude.

Yep. Fidonet may be larger, but I suspect many that do have it linked
do so out of a nostalgia / familiarity thing than for any kind of
content.

There's a handful of good echos and a heap of dead ones on Fidonet. The good ones are worth joining Fidonet for.

I've personally had positive experiences but have heard this sentiment
in the past. I've never seen it play out in such an ugly fashion right before my eyes, though. Fortunately my RC is poindexter FORTRAN who is
a true gentleman.

My Fido upstream is also great (hi Vorlon), known him online for many years as well. I'm glad I rejoined Fidonet. Sure, there's cesspit sysop echos, but there are good echos on Fidonet, among the dead wood.

Your personal biases are definitely clouding your judgement here. Look at
the whole situation from an objective point of view and you'll see
something different than you are now.

As for the private/public thing, nobody is required to read private
messages, let alone reply to them. I personally don't do anything with
private messages, and I'm guessing I'm not the only one.
