The only way I've found to disable the new user question "Where did you hear about this BBS" is to comment out the code in the newuser.js script. Before I add this to my step-by-step, is there a more proper way?

No there is. I just committed an update to newuser.js so you can just set "survey=false" in the [newuser] section of your ctrl/modopts.ini file.

This is still undocumented in the current copy of modopts.ini in the git repo. I was trying to figure out how to do this because I remembered reading about it a couple months ago. I vote for adding a remark in the default modopts.ini file to document it for posterity!
