    So I followed these instructions:
    1. In the repo, pulled the latest changes (I see them in /sbbs/repo)
    2. cd /sbbs/repo/src/sbbs3; make RELEASE=1 setcap symlinks
    3. checked text.dat
    4. ran jsexec update

Now the issue is stuff in exec/load did not get updated and are still old files. I can manually copy the files, but what else am I missing that didn't get updated. Can someone tell me where I went wrong in the upgrade?

Nothing went wrong. If you want to avoid the copying files from the repo, you can use symlinks as covered here:

Ok I have it all working now with git. I think the wiki might need to be tweaked a bit, because if you make a local branch and try to do a git pull while your branch is checked out, it's just going to complain about no upstream. I would usually either commit or stash, then checkout master and pull then, switch back to my own branch and merge master. There may be a more efficient way though.

Yeah, I don't have local branch instructions on the wiki yet. Feel free to add them.
