It's safe. I had Windows reporting a bunch of false positives when I was building and testing the v3.18b setup.exe. It seems their malware scanning is not so great these days.

I was going to say false positives also due to ms virus scanner. I know you’d never put a real virus in your bbs because it’s open source.

That hasn't been my experience. Also, an OS wouldn't be very popular without 3rd-party developers developing software for it..

One time I was interviewing for a job, and the interviewer asked me what I thought of Linux. He said he trusted Microsoft & Windows because it's maintained by a relatively small team who are paid to develop it. And he thought that since Linux is open-source, that anyone could go in and put a virus or malware in it. He seemed like a Microsoft fanboy and probably didn't understand the Linux development process.. Linux is fairly widely used around the world, and my understanding is that code changes to Linux and GNU software is reviewed and controlled so that malware doesn't go into it.

It didn't "go down", however, End Of Sales date was Aug 1, 2020 and End Of Life is July 31, 2021. Perhaps F-Prot for Winbloz Sales ended a while ago but they are still providing signature updates on my *.deb. I'll have to check into that further. Thanks for reminding me!

Sorry, I didn't see a specific platform version refernce. I suppose 'in the olden days' could have been a clue, but, ya, anyway ... so, in the NOW, EOL for F-Prot is 07/31/20. Ya, just like SBBS, software devs moved on from DOS a looooooong time ago and is not likely to enter anyone's mind unless they are trying to get 16bit DOS doors running under something other than DOS (ie: qemu, freeDos, etc).
