• umonitor - recycle telnet fails

    DM,

When I use umonitor and select System Options/Recycle Servers each recycle works except Telnet server. If I manually touch recycle.term, it does recycle properly. Is there something something that I'm doing wrong here?

    Thanks,
    -WitNik

Awesome, I'll download the fixes and try it. Did you by chance ever figure out that weird split-screen chat issue when running Linux-based SBBS from a SMB-based share? I remember you writing to me about being able to reproduce it, but I can't remember if it's still an open issue.

No, I don't think I specifically resolved that issue. There has been a Linux file locking issue resolved since that time, so it's possible it's fixed. I haven't re-tested that feature.

Updated and tested. It works now! I like how you changed the menu option from telnet to terminal server too...

While the issue is fixed, I did noticed some garbage characters that appear at the end of the list of node in umonitor now. I have 15 nodes, and when I reach the bottom of the list I see the following:

Just a suggestion, try installing and using "Fira Code" or "Cascadia

Yeah, another one I can't reproduce. When did that start happening?

This started after the update. I see this consistently, when I go into the systems options sub-menu then back out and scroll down the list of node statuses. I can only see Nodes 1-11 without scrolling, but once I scroll passed 11 to the end of the list, the weird characters appear beneath node 15 in the blank line between node 15's status and the border of the list.

Ok, here's where I'm at with the reports:

1.) Hang-up Now (after transfer prompt) functions on x64 Linux Test Machine. 2.) umonitor odd character issue doesn't occur on x64 Linux Test Machine.
3.) sbj issue was my fault / ignorance:

I noticed it was using an older version of the XSDK. I was under the impression that when I recompiled the BBS, the native doors were also recompiled. When I went to /sbbs/repo/xtrn/sbj and ran a 'make clean' and then 'make' it recompiled without errors. Then I copied /sbbs/repo/xtrn/sbj to /sbbs/xtrn/sbj and it worked fine.

So that leads me to my next question, is this how I'm supposed to update sbj or domain poker or is there another procedure?

So to summarize, #1 and #2 occur on the RPi, but not on x64 Linux. #3 is my fault/confusion

    Thanks,

I'll give that a shot, but it's weird that it only happens on 32bit Raspberry Pi OS (Debian 10 "Buster"), but is totally ok on Debian 10 "Buster" x64.

If you run umonitor with a larger terminal window (say, 40 lines, not 25) - does the problem still happen?

Ok, I have to revise my report now. So, I often launch umonitor from terminals or from xwindows-based terminals. This issue does not appear if I force curses mode, but does appear when I allow auto mode and it selects x11 mode. Today, I notice that Raspberry PI OS (Debian Buster) released several update packaages for their X11 implementation. After installing the new libraries, this issue seems to have gone away.

Looks like the problem may have been on my end. I also feel bad for not including all the details because I forget that some of the SBBS-related apps will launch in X11 sessions. (I'm beginning to take all of the awesomeness for granted...) =)
