When I login and do a new scan after I read the first message Im getting disconnected. Then I have to manually recycle the servers.
    Error log shows these.
0005 ! ERROR 13 binding Telnet Server socket to port 23: Permission denied. Also getting
event BINKPOLL ! JavaScript /sbbs/exec/binkp.js line 220: TypeError: buf is null
Im sure the binding error was after I got disconnected and is why I had to manually recycle. Not seeing anything that helps me figure out why it keeps booting me after I read the first message though.

This only happens when connected via Telnet. I can read the messages fine when connected via HTTP. If I choose to connect via telnet from the webpage, the same thing happens when reading messages, and the sidebar shows I am at the external programs menu. Btw this is on 3.18c for Linux running the latest build from git.

It sounds like you're using DDMsgReader, and maybe its crashing? Do you have any errors in your logs?

I am using DDMsgreader. No errors in my logs. As I stated in another post I restored from backup from the day before the last time I recompiled synchronet and it fixed the problem but there were no changes to DDMsgReader so maybe something that changed in Synchronet broke DDMsgReader? I dont know.

There's like 3 different problems you're reporting in here in one message.

For the binding issue, see http://wiki.synchro.net/faq:tcpip#bind

For the binkp error, looks like its try to decrypt an empty buffer. I just committed a change that should at prevent *that* error.

For the disconnection issue, log messages from the terminal server would be very helpful (from the time this happens). Are you using a 3rd party message reader maybe?

    I am using DDMsgreader.

That would be an important detail to include in your initial problem report.

    No errors in my logs.

Is the 'sbbs' process terminating (crashing)? If not, I would expect the terminal server to have reported details about what has happened, if not an error message, something.
