I noticed, a few months ago, when Synchronet/Syncterm got mouse support.. it was cool to see the video by Digital Man going over all this. :P

At any rate, a friend of mine had been on Ubuntu 18 and using some older version of Syncterm with botch Synchronet and Mystic will full functionality...

However, I was on Ubuntu 20.04, on a newer version of Syncterm, and my copy/paste functions would only sometimes work... to be more exact, for ME to select copy/paste text I either need to be on a Synchronet BBS OR when on a Mystic one, I must go into Scrollback mode in order to select text. Then, the only way to paste text thats in the clipboard is to press SHIFT+Insert.

My buddy was like, ummm no - it just works... to which I bickered back and forth and just lived without the functionality. I prefer Syncterm, and while copy/paste is important... I just went without. And he just said 'it works'... until this last week - he upgraded to the new Ubuntu, and built Syncterm...

Well, now he has the same lesser functionality that I do. Again, when on a Mystic BBS must enter Scrollback mode to select text. Only way to insert it it to press SHIFT+Insert and there is SOME changes that happen if we Toggle Doorway Mode...

Question is, does any of this make sense to DM or Deuce? Is there an older version that we might be able to make use of, since we run Mystic BBSes and want the copy/paste functionality? Or, is there a way to set us up on the newest versions?

I want to use Syncterm as I think its superior to other options. I do run Mystic, and think it functions differently for US.

Work around, for any others in my boat are listed above using Scrollback & the shift trick.

Thanks DM & Deuce... it works fine under Synchronet; which I can understand, but we sure would love to have a perfect Syncterm too. :P

Sounds like you should be talking to g00r00 then about making mouse tracking in Mystic optional (e.g. a user terminal setting). I assume that when you have mouse support turned on for the user in Synchronet, you'd get the same behavior (mouse can't be used for copy-to-clipboard unless in scrollback mode).

If you really think that something should be changed in SyncTERM, then go here to file a feature request: https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/issues

Maybe there should be an option in synchronet where if you press the CTRL
while using the mouse it'll work like cut & paste rather than assuming the point & click function?

In SyncTerm I'd eventually like to see a block copy where you can copy a
square of text (the scroll lines on the right side of the page are a pain when copying and pasting to an email), so you'd probably need to work with Deuce to make sure key combos don't clash. Maybe one can use SHIFT+CTRL to select a block or whatever.

Depending on your terminal app, you could try it in console
mode in your terminal of choice, you lose the custom fonts
when you do this, relying on your terminal, but I like the
    experience slightly more myself.

I am not sire how you came yuo with this conclusion when I have tested several versions of Synterm on several bbs system SBBS, cnet & Mystic. I do think its a issue with the bbs software or the operating system from the test that I performed.
