I see my scripy screwed the post up on VERT, it will be right next time, I am posting in CTRL-A in hopes that non ANSi viewser can see it also, but forgot to switch my qwk setting on vert to expand to ansi.

Or should I leave it on CTRL-A?

mine is setup to export CTRL-A.

and that ad just looked scrwed.

Maybe just post ansi? or ascii next time?

    Sorry so many questions.

strange.. it was screwed up on the systems it should have looked good on, and looked fine on the system it should have screwed up on. guess I'll either covert to ascii or get rid of it.. I did set vert to expand it to ansi now, it was keeping it as ctrl-a, my system only has the option to convert to, or strip ctrl-a before exporting.

Hmm.. very strange, In my text on any writing I usually try not to surpass
78, this as was created with TheDraw, so w know it is'nt any longer than 80 unless the ans2asc coverter did it.

the next one is going out as ANSI, but I don't like doing that for the ascii only crowd. but would really like to put out game ads for different games every couple weeks.

The message was received here with ANSI sequences (not Ctrl-A).

The setting on Vertrauen affects how messages are exported from Vertrauen for your system (not the other way around). Double-check that you have SCFG->Networks->QWK->Hubs->VERT->Sub-boards... each set to "Leave In" Ctrl-A Codes.

Yes, thats how I put it for any SBBS system I send mail to is to leave in CTRL-A because that would be a more generic way of getting it across the net, plus take care of the users who do not use colors, this is how I do it on my system, every menu or file I display I convert to CTRL-A so I do not need two,

But its kinda strange the only system that receieved it from the hub (vert) correctly was not an sbbs.

    Shit!

Hey, that's my word :) Honestly, as a general rule of thumb, I don't post ansi ads for the problems you are having. Every system displays them differently. I try to post only ASCII. If I do post in color, I only use ansi, and keep the width under 75 to allow for those old editors. Most editors can handle
ansi, bit the older ones have no idea what Sync Codes are, or PCB codes
are, or the many other color codes you can use. A case in point, My GAP
system can handle Ansi or PCB codes, but the other codes look like
jiberish. When puplishing in color, keep in mind that not everyone uses synchronet, which can display almost any color code. Please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm not trying to but into your business, I'm just letting you know what I have discovered over the years. Hope this helps.

Synchronet v3.16 and later automatically word-wraps message text when displaying to terminal users, so that appears to be the issue with the originally posted ANSI. Reading the message in raw I/O mode (Ctrl-Z to enable), disables word-wrap and displays the ANSI just fine in Synchronet v3.16+.

    Shit!

Hey, that's my word :) Honestly, as a general rule of thumb, I don't post ansi ads for the problems you are having. Every system displays them differently. I try to post only ASCII. If I do post in color, I only use ansi, and keep the width under 75 to allow for those old editors. Most editors can handle ansi, bit the older ones have no idea what Sync Codes are, or PCB codes are, or the many other color codes you can use. A case in point, My GAP system can handle Ansi or PCB codes, but the other codes look like jiberish. When puplishing in color, keep in mind that not everyone uses synchronet, which can display almost any color code. Please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm not trying to but into your business, I'm just letting you know what I have discovered over the years. Hope this helps.

Very good rule of thumb, I've always tried to pad the edges, and post as ctrl-a because the system usually somewhere down the line converts to ansi anyway.

Think I'll just sticl with ascii from now on, I also forgot that people use offline readers. I'v never seen a reason to use one, but I've never been a BBS user either, I've always been a SysOp since I learned of BBS systems, but this being a *mostly* sbbs network, I thought ctrl-a would be the best route to go. and go figure, the only system that picked it up correctly was a WILDCAT system If I'm not mistaken.

Yessir, thats it.. So if I *do* decide to do any color ads of any type later on I'll be sure there is at least 2 or so characters of padding on each side to be safe.

just to keep trouble down :-)

I got one of your ansi's fine, but I can't remember the messgae number. I'll go back later and see if I see it, as it may help guide you.

Damn, I forgot all about offline readers, (Sysop Mentality, LOL), do they even display color, or is that a user setting.

Taken directly from the Customization Documentation On Synchronet.

    PCBoard/Wildcat Format

Two of the Color Code formats which Synchronet supports (PCBoard and Wildcat) use similar, yet cryptic, methods of displaying colors. The PCBoard method uses the format "@X<Background><Foreground>", and Wildcat uses the format "@<Background><Foreground>@". The following is a list of the Background and Foreground choices available:

    <Background> Color Attribute <Foreground> Color Attribute ------------ ----- --------- ------------ ----- ---------
0 Black Normal 0 Black Normal
    1 Blue " 1 Blue "
    2 Green " 2 Green "
    3 Cyan " 3 Cyan "
    4 Red " 4 Red "
    5 Magenta " 5 Magenta "
    6 Brown " 6 Brown "
    7 White " 7 White "
8 Black Blinks Foreground 8 Black High Intensity
    9 Blue " 9 Blue "
    A Green " A Green "
    B Cyan " B Cyan "
    C Red " C Red "
    D Magenta " D Magenta "
    E Brown " E Yellow "
    F White " F White "

Example: "@1F@" in Wildcat format and "@X1F" in PCBoard format would set the
current color to high intensity white on a blue background.

    Synchronet Format

The native Synchronet Color Code format (preferred) consists of a Control-A followed by a singe character. The following is a list of valid Control-A
    Color Codes:

    ForegroundBackground
    --------------------
    Black K 0
    Red R 1
    Green G 2
    Yellow Y 3
    Blue B 4
    Magenta M 5
    Cyan C 6
    White W 7

    AttributeDescription
    --------------------
    High HHigh Intensity
    Blink IBlinking
    Normal NNo Special Attributes (Normal)
Pause PInsert a Pause Prompt into message
Pause Reset QReset the line counter for the auto screen-pause
Delay ,Insert a Tenth Second Delay into message
Delay ;Insert a Half Second Delay into message
Delay .Insert a Two Second Delay into message
    Date DDisplay the system date
    Time TDisplay the system time
Cls LInsert a Form Feed (Ctrl-L, Clear Screen) into message
Clreol >Clear to End of Line (leave cursor in current position)
    Bckspc <Non-destructive backspace (Ctrl-H)
    CR [Carriage return (Ctrl-M)
    LF ]Line feed (Ctrl-J)
Ctrl-A ASend an actual Ctrl-A character
Sync SSynchronize output with remote system
EOF ZEnd of displayable text in this file

Normal -Same as 'N' but only sends ANSI codes if the
(minus) High Intensity, Blinking, or Background attribute is set.

Normal _Same as 'N' but only sends ANSI codes if the
(underscore) Blinking or Background attribute is set.

Synchronet also supports Special Control-A codes used to hide text from users not meeting certain criteria (i.e.: Security Level or Flags from Flag Set #1). The following is a list of Special Control-A codes, and a brief description
    of each code's usage:

CodeDescription ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^A thru ^ZOnly display the following text to users with the corresponding
flag A through Z turned on (from Flag Set #1).

!Toggle the text display off/on for users of less than level 10.
    @" " 20.
    #" " 30.
    $" " 40.
    %" " 50.
    ^" " 60.
    &" " 70.
    *" " 80.
    (" " 90.
)Restore the displaying of text to ALL users.

"<filename> Display contents of <filename> (from your TEXT directory)

High Bit(greater than ASCII 127) Used for cursor right positioning.
