So, was the car in the video for the song, or in some other show/movie also called Damnation Alley?

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

    Damnation Alley was a 1977 Movie. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075909/

A small group of survivors at a military installation who survived World War 3 attempt to drive across the desolate wasteland to where they hope more survivors are living. Hopefully their specially built vehicles will protect them
against the freakish weather mutated plant and animal life and other dangers along the way.

Once you've seen the Damnation Alley vehicles, you'll remember seeing them from many '70s TV shows. They got alot of milage out of those props (pun intended). They even converted some into space ships for Jason of Star Command.

It's mind-boggling that an urban assult vehicle could be threatened by
giant lobsters on a projection screen.

I think they were used in the tv series ARK II ? That had some good visuals but the talking chimp always freaks me out.

Damnation Alley is one of those films I'll sit and watch through whenever
it's on the TV. The Landmaster was kind of silly as I look back, and I recall
seeing it in several TV shows.

The vehicle you're thinking of is the Ark II, which preceded the Landmaster. The Ark II was built of a standard military truck chassis, as you can see by the dual axles in the rear. The fiberglas body was removed and used as exterior shots for the shuttle in Space Academy and Jason of Star Command.

I was listening to the Rush song "Red Barchetta" this afternoon, and pondering the lyrics:

My uncle preserved for me an old machine
    For fifty odd years
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream

I strip away the old debris
    That hides a shining car
    A brilliant red Barchetta
    From a better vanished time

The Fiat Abarth 100SP Barchetta was made in 1966, so the events of this song supposedly occur after 2016. Where's my gleaming alloy air-car?

At least we haven't seen the Motor Law yet.

BTW, The song was based on a short story called "A Nice Morning Drive" that was published in Road and Track in 1973.

I would argue that a Tesla and other EVs are getting kind of close. Not sure what the "air" in an "air-car" is, but perhaps no wheels? Certainly, no combustion engine.

At least we haven't seen the Motor Law yet.

We seem to be getting closer and closer each day though. :-(
