I'm watching The Cape on Sidereel...never seen it before, it's a pretty darn good series.

Was a little intense and we thought it kinda took itself too seriously. That show still going on?

Watched the new Torchwood earlier today, too. Those BBC shows are
    getting REAL
    good.

Are you familiar with the original Torchwood and if so, how does it compare? Was Jack in the group?

So far it doesn't feel so much like Torchwood as it does some new show that I probably wouldn't be watching if it wasn't carrying that name. Jack's in it, but not enough. It's had enough good moments so far that I'll probably keep watching it the whole way through, but it's no "Children of Earth".

CoE probably set the bar a bit high anyway. Even so, this bears no resemblance to the first two seasons which I enjoyed in all of their ridiculous cheesiness.

No, all my shows were on hiatus at the time, and I was catching up on
all the shows I missed. I watched the entire season in one weekend...
LOL! It was a bit of a serious show, but I tend to like darker shows
anyways. I wish they'd have let it run at least one more season, the
    ending was way too rushed.

Watched the new Torchwood earlier today, too. Those BBC shows are

Yes, I was able to catch all of the series. By the end of the last
season, the Torchwood institution was dead. Most of Captain Jack's
team was dead. His grandson (or son? I forget; we didn't find out about
him until the last couple of episodes) was dead -- Jack had to use him to
save the world, which of course alienated him from his grandson's mother.

So, being quite distraught over everything, Jack left to wander the
galaxy. At the beginning of Episode 1, we find out that Gwen and her
family are in seclusion, hiding from the world to keep their baby safe.
Gwen is the only surviving member from Torchwood, other than Jack.

I'll save the details so there's no real spoilers and keep it vague.

Something happens to the entire world, and the American CIA is trying
to figure out what's going on. One CIA guy, I forget his name for the
moment, manages to locate Gwen Cooper at about the same time someone
else locates her and tries to assasinate her. Captain Jack shows up
at the last minute to save them.

The CIA arrest Jack and Gwen, in order to bring them in for questioning.

This series will be taking place in the United States, and is being
filmed here as well. There are several notable US actors in the show,
giving it, in my opinion, a unique feel. But, at the same time, it
has the same energy as the original... not much is different other than
a new cast and setting. In fact, I'd say the show is just as good.
Too early to tell if it will be better. :)

    Hope that answers your question.

Yeah this seems like a complete reset of the series

I just seen the latest episode, and there are hints of the old Torchwood coming out. I especially like it when everyone starts goofing off more while they're "working", and the CIA guy is like "wtf are you guys doing? you're supposed to be TORCHWOOD for god's sake!" lol

I have a feeling the institution that was Torchwood (within the show) will be coming back. Another difference between the old and the new is the old shows were episodic, whereas this is playing out as a mini-series. And rather fast-paced for a mini-series, too.
