Also, I am old enough that SPAM meant the meat product before I ever learned what email was. If I had been born 15 or so years later, I may have learned about spam email before the product.

optimal weight should be closer to 90-95kg (200-210lbs ?).
I could manage it double digit kilos before I turned 40..
now the metabolism is just playing dirty tricks with me..

calorie intake in good quality foods (whole foods, no processed
stuff). I used the BMI as a starting point. From that, I

I think I still need to better manage my diet as my weight
just doesn't want to drop below 100kg (~220lbs ?) while my
optimal weight should be closer to 90-95kg (200-210lbs ?).
I could manage it double digit kilos before I turned 40..

canned ham, but at a smaller size, so it would be more
affordable. It was also spiced and seasoned a bit more
heavily to cover the differences in the use of pork
shoulder over actual ham.
The reputation for being lower quality is mostly undeserved
as it's actually relatively high quality compared to other
sausages and deli meats, preserved (canned) or otherwise.

stevia should be better for you, as stevia is a natural plant
extract.

Maybe, but if you do even a basic search on these artificial sweeteners,
you can find stories about all of them having bad/unpleasant side
effects. Hard to know what is true and what isn't.

soda is not a health food, so shouldn't be treated as such.
i dont think soda with sugar substitutes will be bad for you if you
have it occasionally as a treat. cooking your food on a grill and blackening it is far more dangerous, 'they' say.

As an occasional meat product, maybe. But the regular long-term
ingestion of the nitrates are not good. One of the last canned
ham products I looked at had THREE different types of sodiums:
2 nitrates and 1 nitrite.
Bottom line for me is that non-diet ones that actually contain sugar are probably better/safer for you. If the few extra calories you might get from sugar in a soda is a deal-breaker for somebody, they've got significantly bigger problems than that.

i dont use sugar now and i rarely use salt. frenchfries, taquitos, yes. everything else gets pepper.

I keep flavored stevia drops for that... usually a bit of
caramel or vanilla flavored with a bit of heavy cream.
Only have coffee a couple times a month though and avoid
caffeine more than a couple times a week.

Worth noting that a single 12oz can of soda has the recommended limit on daily sugar intake for an adult male. Most people in the US get way behond that.

yeah, most people who are 'into' sodastream end up swapping for the same stuff beer brewers use. welding shops can refill tanks for really cheap, and then you carbonate a few 1 to 5 gallon tanks of whatever you'd like.
i had all the equipment for beer kegging and made root beer once. it was kind of nice, but it gets old having 5 gallons of it. kind of wish i had though of making rootbeer floats with it.. d'oh

I don't think I could go through 5 gallons in any kind of reasonable timeframe. Let alone the sugar content.

They are expensive up-front, but if you buy carbonated water/seltzer/whatever in cans/bottles, you'll save a lot by moving to Sodastream - and create less waste in the process.

Pepsi Zero sugar is the least worst of the Pepsi options. I drank one in
