Those message metadata items are also available via QWK kludges,
@MSGID and @REPLY, but HEADERS.DAT is better:
I take it sysops would have to enable the QWK kludges on vert?
Yes, it's an option on the QWK packet configuration/settings menu.
When I add them, I'd do HEADERS.DAT.
Yeah, that's preferrable. I may be removing the old kludge line support at some point in the future.
I had done it in Magicka, but
haven't got around to it in Talisman. The stuff for INI files is already there, the only reason I hadn't done it was I wasn't sure about how to
make properly unique MSGIDs, in magicka i had libuuid, but I'm not sure that's available on Windows. (I remember from magicka that you were keen
on uniqueness ;P)
When it comes to message IDs, yeah, uniqueness is the whole point. :-)
I guess it's a motivation thing really :)
Is the replyid thing particularly annoying? I had assumed most non-synchronet BBSes didn't have it.
It's a very common feature for FTN-supporting software, so most sysops and users kind of expect thread linkage support these days. It just brings QWKnet up to par with FTN in that regard (or exceeds FTNs in the area of message-ID-uniqueness).
