Hello Zip, many thanks for taking the time to respond. I was rather excited to see in the log file that the message was packed and dispatched when I sent this. It's been 30+ years since I ran a BBS so it's quite exciting to have this all up and running.

Used to run an OS/2 system on a 386/33 with 16gb RAM and 320gb HDD. Now it's a virtual machine running under ProxMox behind several firewall appliances and routers. A very different landscape and so much better (but more complex) due to the great ability to snapshot! I remember many mistakes back in the day resulting in booting from floppy and if installing the OS again it was 30+ 1.44mb floppies one after the other and then a ZIP drive to restore files and message backups.... oh how lucky we are with today's technology.

Yep! I recognize the feeling. =)

I remember OS/2 2.1 floppies with read errors and having to order replacement ones from IBM. =)

I ran my BBS on DOS, Windows 3.1, DesqView, OS/2 2.1 and 3.0, Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000 Professional before shutting it down, then reopened it a couple of years ago on Linux. =)

I came across my OS/2 2.1 floppies a couple years ago. I didn't have a floppy drive to test them with, but I'd be willing to bet the majority of them don't work anymore.

Right, floppies don't always age very gracefully. :)

The read errors on mine was probably due to the package sitting too long in a hot mailbox on a sunny summer day, though. :-O
