Re: rlogin, telnet not able to log in

last night I had to replace my cable modem. I changed the ip addresses where I thought they needed to be changed (no-ip, router, etc) I validated ports were set correctly (as far as I can tell). I did that with a port scan from SBBS. Only ports that failed were SSH, gopher, ident, nntp, https, and ircs-u. IRC is working as shown on SBBS console services. BBS is on a VM. Telnet is working apparently from outside, but not from my computer syncterm. Rlogin is also not working from syncterm to the bbs. pop3 and smtp are also not working from the web as evidenced by no activity. Anyone have an idea as to why these are not working? Thanks in advance
This is probably not the correct conference to be asking this kind of question.
But anyway, when trying to connect "from my computer syncterm" - what address are you trying to connect to? If you're trying to connect to your Internet gateway's public IP address, that's not going to magically route back to your BBS computer's (private) IP address unless your router supports "hairpinning". Try connecting to "localhost" instead.
