• Binkley style access for QWKnet

From Retroswim@21:2/121 to All on Tue Apr 1 10:57:02 2025
    Heya!

I would like to offer DOVEnet on my board, but I am constrained by Ezycom's
    QWK support. I think.

Support exists for users to exchange QWK packets for offline
reading/writing, as well as something called BlueWave, but it doesnt seem
like thats appropriate for a QWKnet scheme. Unless I'm missing something obvious?

When I write to an echo area, I can provide arbitrary names in the To field, but non-echo/netmail areas validate against the local userbase, which seems
    to be a deal breaker.

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but is there a binkley style method to send/poll DOVEnet with binkd? Or maybe I'm thinking about it all wrong,
and barking up the wrong tree?

Keen to learn, and perhaps gain some insight!

    Cheers

I can feed you DOVEnet via FTN if that helps...

That would be cool actually! If it's no trouble of course!

I have it set up here already, if Deon doesn't. I currently feed four
    other systems that way.

Sure, register yourself at my mailer https://clrghouz.bbs.dege.au, and let me know when you done. I'll give you a node number and then you'll be good to go.

Thanks! I've done that, but I think I might have registered myself twice or something?

I added system #2187, but later found system #2182 already existed. Oops!

I'll try this again, because my message to FSX_TST worked okay.

I have noticed that my FSE suddenly stopped offering taglines. I wonder why??

    "Hmmmmmmm I've got to think!"

    Cheers.

This message came to me garbled - with a bunch of SEEN-BY's - so not sure if any of it was truncated.

But with what I've got - all good, I'll merge your systems together, thanks for letting me know.

I've given you a dovenet FTN address, head back to the site and add your security, and then you can subscribe to areas (or send netmail areafix messages).

Let me know if you get stuck ... (hopefully it should all be self explanatory).

Oh, forgot to mention as well, you can also use an EMSI mailer (with zmodem) if you want as well - it should work, but zmodem is somewhat unrealiable over TCP - especially if one side is slower than the other.

I've got Portal of Power in front of my Ezycom...

Maybe I'll look at that in the future, if BinkD gives me more grief!

For now though, everything seems to be humming along. Thanks for your help!

    Cheers!
