Been staying at my parents home supporting my folks after mum moved into a rest home at the start of the week. It will be 7 days tomorrow for her in the new place.
Dad is adrift and in need of support / help. My brother did a great job helping them both with the move in, I'm now about for another week to help ease the transition.
I find myself planning evening meals, trying to buoy spirits and not get
too tearful when you can see the people you love struggle with their new situation.
It's good to be home to help, if only for a little while. I don't live nearby and flights are involved to get here so time spent at home and with my folks is special. Leaving at the end of next week will be hard, will I see my mum alive again? :(
Wishing you and your family all the best. These challenges are
difficult for sure. It seems many people I know in our same age range
are dealing with similar situations right now (including myself).
As remote friends, I'm always available for chatting about anything. I find that taking mental breaks from stressful situations is good
medicine. Always here to help in that respect.
Thank Mark, appreciate the kind thoughts and offer of support.
Yeah I agree it seems there's a few of us in the same kinds of situations, just a function of our age and stage of life I guess. The joys of being an adult huh?

Best of luck, it might take more effort keeping Dad's morale up than there is concern for your mother.
Oddly enough when I get moved, I'll be doing the reverse getting my
mother back out of aged care. She needs support but she's still mostly competent. She's in her second home now, and she's come to the
conclusion its swings and round abouts.. she's not entirely happy with either of them.
