    Hi all,

    Just playing around with synchronet on a VM and i'm a little confused when it comes to netmail setup..

    I have just set myself up as a 21:3/999 trying to send a netmail to my mystic bbs by sending to toofargone@21:3/179 but looking in the logs it's trying to connect to f179.n3.z21.fsxnet.nz:24554. I assume in synchronet netmail uses a different setup than echomail since it's not trying to connect to the node i've set up for my hub.

    Can someone steer me in the right direction to get netmail for 21:ALL to connect to the binkp hostname for my hub?

    Thanks!

    That will work assuming that the dns setup at fsxnet.nz is setup to to send that traffic to your hostname. I think it is meant to but might need an update.

    I assume in synchronet netmail uses a different setup than echomail since it's not trying to connect to the node i've set up for my hub.

    There are two ways to do this..

    1) Add the fsxnet (and other useful nodelists) nodelist to your sbbsecho.ini so BinkIT will use that info to connect with other nodes.

    2) Add 21:3/179 as a linked node including any passwords (if needed) and host name so the mailer will know where/how to connect.

    Can someone steer me in the right direction to get netmail for 21:ALL to connect to the binkp hostname for my hub?

    I think one of the above steps will do the trick.

    Thanks! I'll check it out tomorrow, too tired to work it all out tonight!

    Do you have a nodelist set up in ECHOCFG? If there's not a nodelist set
    up, it'll try to use the DNS setting for the zone it's sending to.

    There's a .js file now called init-fidonet.js that does all of the setup
    for you - even is coded to allow you to request a node number from
    Fidonet or many other othernets - and configures the BBS for you.

    In your sbbsecho.ini, make sure you have an entry for your hub, then this should work:

    [node:21:ALL]
    Name =
    Comment =
    Archive = ZIP
    PacketType = 2+
    PacketPwd =
    AreaFix = false
    AreaFixPwd =
    SessionPwd =
    TicFilePwd =
    Inbox =
    Outbox =
    Passive = false
    Direct = false
    Notify = false
    Keys =
    Status = Normal
    Route = 21:1/100 <--- YOUR HUB ID GOES HERE!
    GroupHub =
    BinkpHost =
    BinkpPort = 24554
    BinkpPoll = false
    BinkpPlainAuthOnly = false
    BinkpAllowPlainAuth = false
    BinkpAllowPlainText = true
    BinkpTLS = false
    BinkpSourceAddress =

    To my knowledge, "Route =" is the only entry that matters for this 21:ALL entry. I left all the other fields as defaults.
