Today I learned the difference of grommets versus bushings.
I was wiring a new satellite radio antenna because my WiFi on my TV
makes my XM cut out anytime the TV was turned on. After some deep
Amazon research, I realized I need a cable bushing and some silicone
to seal the hole.
Anyone have any other good tips from their exterior wiring projects?
Seal any and every hole around the exterior, especially if you have
rodents in your area. Rats can collapse their ribcage so they can get
through incredibly small holes and they will breed quickly. Trust me, I
know, and it's not cheap to get them out either.
If you're going to make a hole from the exterior to the interior, make
it a little bit bigger and put a couple of draw strings through. Sooner
or later you may want to run another cable or replace the existing one.
Drawing one through first before removing the old one is safer.
