There's this chap Rick Beato that I watch some of his YouTube clips
from time to time. I enjoy them and find him a thoughtful fellow in
terms of what he speaks about.
I love his "what makes this song great" series. Dissecting a song instrument by instrument really makes the musicianship show through.

I also like Rick's content. I love his "what makes this song great" series. He's a producer but in actuality is a phenomenal musician in his own right...the way he understands music and can break it down is a
sight to behold.
Oh Yea Rick Beato is fantastic! I've watched tons of his guitar videos.
Cool that you follow him.

He put up a clip with some comments about AI and the impact on musicians etc. that I thought was good.
Would recommend it as a watch. https://youtu.be/-eAQOhDNLt4
Rick Beato thinks that listeners won't care, and compared the
trend to tape machines being replaced by digital recorders, and speaker/amps replaced by a simple laptop - but that's
different. That gear is simply the medium that delivers the
music material. But creating SOURCE material that intentially capitalizes on an existing artists "sound" and style for the
purposes of profit, without the original person's permission,
should be prohibited. People SHOULD care.
Beato makes a brief comment on someone's creation of an
artifical female singer's voice and that creator's stipulation
that the voice is free to use by anyone as long as the creator
gets 50% of the income.
Maybe this is just an exploratory fad. If the fake or AI
material is labeled as such, maybe the public will grow tired
of it after a while and yearn for real music and real artists.

the trick becomes how does the artist even know their
likeness (in sound terms) is being used?

If what it sounds like sounds artificial then perhaps yes,
but the alarm bells for all is that this stuff sounds very
close to the original artist..
