  • Version A46 - Upgrade?

    Hello all,

    I have to admit my current BBS has been a tad neglected!

    I had an email loss issue - that in the end was nothing to do directly with
    the BBS software - but it was suggested to me that I should perhaps upgrade.

    I am currently running A46 and its playing ball very well - generally.

    Is there a current need to upgrade? And.. if so would it be a 2 step process?

    ie; A46 -> A47 then A47 -> A48

    I always do the 2-step myself. That said, I am having issues upgrading from A46-A47.

    - Bulletins not notifying when they are updated
    - (Y), (N), (C) no longer works (found out (1) and (0) do
    - few other items that I forgot as I started writing this.

    I run on WIN7 Virtual from a server I picked up from old work place years ago. I did create a copy/backup, but had added so many things since (doors, etc.) and didn't notice the above until too late to revert back.
    I've tried to install new/fresh to another directory then copy over - fails still.
    Hoping bulletins can be fixed with later update (file-type mismatch if I do anything else with it). I figured the (Y), (N), (C) was just a menu issue, but can't get that fixed either.
    Main reason I upgraded was for the FIDOPOLL - MUTIL "conversion".

    Anyone else wanna chime in?

    Thats a bit of a bugger to hear! I'm on Linux, running in a cloud server so
    its no trouble to snapshot.

    I read of the fidopoll change, is that a 'required' thing for echomail at all?

    Hope you get the bulletins sorted out!

    I read of the fidopoll change, is that a 'required' thing for echomail
    at all?

    .46 worked for me all this time, just had to make sure I was using mutil instead of fidopoll.

    Hope you get the bulletins sorted out!

    Thanks -- I created a new user and it works properly, so there has to be a FLAG or something I'm not seeing that "turns new bulletins" off or something. ;(

    The Bulletins not updating is a bug in the bulletin.mps use the older bulletin.mps from A45 and it will work fine.. :)

    Thanks -- I edited the Subject line. I upgraded from A46 - A47 - A48.
    New users get the READ NEW BULLETINS? menu, but none of the original users are able to see them. I tried using A47 and A46 but get the mismatch error - even if trying to compile with either version of mide.exe.
    Are you suggesting I re-try with A45?

    I think that is what I did back in A46 or A47.. Give it a shot. I remember it not updating and I went back to the older version and it is fine now..

    Thanks .. when I copied the A35 .mps/.mpx over and then tried to MIDE .mps, I get the error regarding CfgFallBack. I read the info line above and remembered that setting (.. if theme is set to fallback to default .. scan that directory for new bulletins.)

    I went and changed default theme to No (fallback) and am in the midst of retesting but need to logout and I'll restart the BBS Server.
