• Is this how echomail works?

    Hi All,

So one thing I find interesting is this:

I posted a message on fsxNet Test Arena from CloudDancer @ my own SilfenPath BBS to user peconi ... Now this is a public message of course...

However, when I register on another BBS elsewhere, say Roon's BBS in Hungary, on mailscan it detects I (new user peconi on Roon's BBS) have a message...

I could not have been the same peconi ... It could've been someone else.

So echomail will find To: subject and if it matches your own name on the BBS, it'll just assume message is for you?

yes, this is exactly how it works. there's not really anything fancy about echomail message detection other than a matching nickname OR real name.

    Howdy,

However, when I register on another BBS elsewhere, say Roon's BBS in Hungary, on mailscan it detects I (new user peconi on Roon's BBS) have a message...

I could not have been the same peconi ... It could've been someone else.

Username's (and aliases) are generally "unique" on a BBS - so if you are "peconi", then it will assume the message is for you.
