I am adding objects in my multimail address book but can't seem
to figure out how to create a message from that window. Is this
possible?

if there are folks you write to a lot, they can be listed in the
address book... then when you go to write a new message, not a
reply, you can select them from the address book and the header
will be filled for you to then maybe add a subject line at which
point you can write the message body...
in some cases, you might have entries for (eg) areafix on
different systems... these may have your areafix password for
that system set as the subject line... selecting one of these
would make it easier for you to just write your areafix commands
in the message body...

ahhh, i see what you mean, now... sounds like a feature that is incomplete... someone might want to file a defect on the
multimail repo site about it ;)

No problem, butt in anytime. I use multimail and there's an
address book but can't seem to figure out a way to use it. There
seems to be a concensus that it's not usable. I really like the
idea of using netmail vs creating a bbs account on a perspective
board just to msg someone.
In multimail, press 'a.' You can add as many addresses as you'd
like but I can't figure out a way to create a message from there.
There's also a 'send netmail' option but it doesn't seem to work.
At least, I haven't figured out how to use it. I use the linux
version and there's no manpage for it and the sourceforge page
doesn't have much info to draw on.
have you tried CONTROL E instead of E ??Hate to butt in but could you tell me more about a address book?

apparently it is only used for FTN netmail and internet email...

it is only for private mail like FTN netmail or internet email...
calcmandan> I really like the idea of using netmail vs creating

since multimail is an offline QWK/BW reader, you still need a BBS account somewhere on a BBS that does FTN if you want to do FTN netmail... i've never used multimail for email or any other offline messaging stuffings...

I have discovered an interesting issue, however. The only time conference 0 appears in my list of conferences in a QWK packet is when I actually receive netmail or email in that packet. Otherwise it doesn't show in the conferenc list, but every other conference on the board, regardless of whether there's messages or not is present. Reading QWK downloaded from Synchronet in Multimail here.

Have you tried cycling through the 3 options (at the conference
list screen) with the 'L' key? That cycles the view between All,
Active, and Subscribed. In the All view, I see conference
"0 E-mail" shown...

Sounds like a MultiMail issue. The 0 (E-Mail) conference is always included in the CONTROL.DAT file created by sbbs. :-(

Well, it can be done, for certain types of messages. I posted
about that in a previous message in this thread.

My linux version has a man page. "man mm". The address book is
described in there, for what it's worth.

sounds like you have multimail set to show only areas with mail in
them... you should be able to adjust that so that all areas are
shown...

# Default mode for area list: All, Subscribed, or Active
AreaMode: Subscribed
Actually it was in Subscribed, conference 0 only shows up in "All" (or if there is incoming mail in it).
