• Changing the initial Synchronet Screen

    Hey all.

I'm working away on customising my Synchronet board as much as I can before it really goes live and had a question. Is it okay for me to replace the sbbs.msg and associated files with my own ansi and welcome screens? Don't want to do the wrong thing here. Obviously it's important to advertise the software and author etc, so I don't know the etiquette.

    Cheers

I changed the ansi screens but kept the author credit at the beginning of that, they're not in the same file so it'd be difficult to destroy it by mistake

not sure if there any requirments to keep it, but as a developer it'd just feel wrong to remove someone else's tagline

You can (and are encouraged) to replace whatever display files or script you wish. You could even modify the C/C++ source code and remove all mentions of the software and author if you really wanted to.
