I thought so. I admit I have been pleasantly surprised with Windows

There's a graphic that I got from Facebook that showed various domiciles, per the version of Windows.
Windows 95 started with a simple 2 room cottage...a bit nicer than a tree house (I guess that was Windows 3.x) <G>.
Then, it was Windows 98 and 2000, which were similar, but slightly larger.
Windows XP was a nice, multi-level structure, with a garage.
Windows Vista was upside down, with the roof on the ground...and a ladder you had to climb to get into it. <G>
Windows 7 was a very nice structure, and Windows 8 looked like a

I'm not sure what Windows 10 looked like...Windows 9 was invisible, though (M$ skipped over it). :P

Thanks for all the details. I can think of two things that might cause Echolink connections with no audio the way you described.
1. If the UDP 5198-5199 ports are being forwarded to a different IP
address which could happen if you ever had a dedicated Echolink box at th=
site. I could only see this if someone else had administered the nodeth
before you.
2. Check to make sure the entry for "RTP_Pass =3D " in tbd.conf agrees wi=
the "ECHO_TBD_PASSWD=3D" entry in the echo_environment file. On my node b=oth
these files are located in the /home/EchoIRLP/custom/ directory. Embedded Nodes have a "features" directory so it may be a little different for you=.
If these entries are different for some reason, change one or the other t=o
make the passwords identical. I think you need to run "flash_sync"
afterwards to save these files to flash memory. Then reboot the node or
type "/home/irlp/custom/rc.irlp" to restart IRLP and EchoIRLP.
Feel free to connect (IRLP 7583) when you are at the site. If I'm home, m=y
IRLP Node Status should show IDLE.
-Andy
7583
Are you using Ethernet or WiFi to the node?r
Hardwired ethernet to the router.
I noticed that your IP address changed last year. Did you move the node o=
change ISPs?
Changed ISPs, but Echolink didn't work before we changed. I kept the IP addresses on 'our' side the same as before.
I wonder if you could explain what happens when you try to connect to the Echolink Test Server 9999? Do you hear the Welcome message and then
nothing, do you just hear nothing at all, or do you get an error?
As I recall, nothing at all. We're going to be at the site next week, so
I'll give it another go. I'll double check the IP setup too. I understand that IRLP and Echolink share the hardware, so if IRLP works, it seems unlikely that its an IP issue.
For EchoIRLP it should be ports 5198 and 5199 UDP. It's best not to open
any more ports than needed.
Yup, plus the IRLP ports.
Its just really weird that IRLP works and Echolink doesn't. Its gotta be something simple that I'm overlooking. We're going to be at the site nex=t
Wednesday at 10am-ish our time. If my calculations are correct, that's
about 7pm for you. I could ring up your Echolink node and see if you can
hear me. Then we can connect on IRLP and discuss our findings.

Changed ISPs, but Echolink didn't work before we changed. I kept the IP addresses on 'our' side the same as before.

As I recall, nothing at all. We're going to be at the site next week, so
I'll give it another go. I'll double check the IP setup too. I understand that IRLP and Echolink share the hardware, so if IRLP works, it seems unlikely that its an IP issue.

The reason I ask is because I once accidentally changed my RTP_pass entry

It should of course be the same as where you are forwarding the IRLP port=s.

Here's that one...
Don,e

As for the delay, I can click on the lightning bolt, but it takes about
15 seconds for the system to realize what I did...and I've never had
that problem before.
I originally had 2 entries in my router setup for Echolink...one for
TCP and the other for UDP...but found it was easier to just set it for BOTH, with ports 5198 to 5200.
Mine is just a single user setup, although at times, I will put EchoAnswer on. It's a "Virtual Answering Machine" for Echolink Single
User setups under Windows (it does NOT work in Sysop link or repeater mode)...but, I don't think it's registerable anymore. Yet, the unregistered version will still let you store 5 messages.
Nowadays, though...I operate D-Star and D-Rats more than Echolink.
