    So,

Who's ready for the soapbox? Any good field day contacts? I went up to the local club to check in. As expected they are still awful and managing public events... You'd think as a hobby where talking to strangers was the idea it would be easier for them... They had plenty of operators though and were chugging along Saturday afternoon.

Made up my mind to take my gear outside here and just run off a battery. I forgot how nice it was sitting on the patio with the QRP rig. Dug out the old laptop with the Damn Small Linux build I just got on there. Used QRZ.com as a logger and went to it.

1B WNY was my class, it bought me a little extra for scoring. I only worked 10

stations as I'm not a die hard. Still, remote, off grit power, QRP, CW ain't for

nuthing. Plus a bonus for posting to social media I figure I'm good for 400 points and so did the ARRL after dropping in my log.

Thunderstorms shut down the fun a few times but my cat was with me on the porch the entire time so there were recharge breaks. Rub a cat it can be electric... We rode the waves of fade and being pretty much full time QRP CW I was prepared for it. Best contact was KK5T other side of Houston from me. Straight line that was a 1350 mile contact on 4 watts off a poorly flown end fed

antenna. Not bad for a guy with a battery and a few cans of diet root beer.

Hope field day was fun for you if you were out there, or not. Contests aren't

for everyone but it's nice to see the hobby on display now and again.

Next up will be the 13 Colonies Special Event! July 1 thru July 8th bee on the

    look out.

Hey where's the ANSI that I was promised in the subject line?! :)

Thanks for posting these updates, it's interesting to read and follow along.

I wondered that too and I think it was because it was a repost from 20FB that I uploaded? don't know?

Well, to make up for the lack of colour in the field day results, here's a link to an album of photos I took last weekend at the local pride parade - FULL OF COLOURS! :)

Sorry for off-topic, but the colour to go with the [ANSI] tag needed to be investigated. ;)

BTW, a favourite of mine from the album, such a friendly pupper: https://flic.kr/p/2pZbPzF
