my limited experience in this is limited to streaming, though... i see streamers with sound mixers as well as video mixers so they can
broadcast their content with several "scene overlays" as well as
various audio sources... doing this for radio shouldn't be that much different other than the licensing and call sign requirements...
internet game streamers generally don't have those restrictions to
    worry about...

You may look into the Open Broadcaster Software https://obsproject.com/ for Windows, Mac OS 10.13, and Linux. It is "Free and open source software for video recording and live streaming." KDENlive https://kdenlive.org/ is "Open source video editor. Free and easy to use for any purpose, forever." for Windows and Linux.

One thing I would like is video streaming software that doesn't need a GUI. That way, I could stream the local ATV repeater. Everything in the shack is currently running headless, so a GUI isn't the best thing. I'd have to run VNC server.

so why not not use the web cam mic and use a regular mic? my headphones have a mic built-in that i use... it works a lot better than the old
stick mic i was using... i've thought about getting a mounted
professional mic but funds are not available for that niceity, right now... and with a (proper?) mixer board, one can easily choose their inputs as well as their outputs...

For one, I'm out of USB slots. And, I've got the USB headset mic working
now. The ham radio stuff (except for the mode of Echolink), is on my laptop...Echolink and the BBS are now on my late Mom's computer (the BBS
power supply and hardware failed in late April...and nearly nonstop stormy weather kept me offline.

I thought I saw something that would work, but can't remember what or where. I would like to stream the local ATV repeater without a GUI - put a receiver at the site and feed it into a stream capture device.

I need to start running more things headless as I currently have 11 "monitors" of one sort or another, including a couple for ATV.

So true. The wallet and temperature in the room. Gets up to 90F if I leave the door closed. If I open it, the thermostat is directly outside the door.

Bit warmish. :) In those conditions, I hope you don't do live ATV. :D
