has Velcro to keep it secure. If I'm sitting at the computer, laying

I was offline for much of yesterday for 3 reasons:
1) The Xfinity internet/cable modem kept resetting.
2) Thunderstorms...one wave from 9am to 12 noon, and another from 9pm
to 12 midnight...the latter with a cold front that finally "broke the
cap on an unstable atmosphere". It's supposed to be dry for the next
week.
3) MAJOR UPDATE to Windows 10...it took 7 hours to finish, with the installation, restarts, etc.

Logistics - whether you're prepared to learn a different way of doing things. For me, transitioning to a VPS would be straightforward,
because I access the current system over SSH - the next room or halfway around the world is not that different once you're doing that. :) For
me, that change might allow me to run DOS doors (much more difficult on the Pi here), though I'd be more inclined to setup a door server.
But I run my systems on Linux. Windows doea require more adjustments.

I'd just worry about data getting hacked or lost in the cloud.
That can happen just as easily at home. In fact, more easily lost, because when hardware dies at home, it's YOUR problem! Modern VPS providers have means to transfer VMs aware from failing hardware seamlessly. You still need to arrange (i.e. do it yourself or pay for
the provider to do) backups of your data, just in case the system gets hacked, or you absently mindedly delete data or screw things up (we've
all done that ;) ).

And, thunderstorms are forecast much of the week. But, I'd rather
have wet roofs and wet lawns, to prevent errant sparks from fireworks starting a fire. I saw yesterday where all of Arizona was under a Red
Flag Warning for extreme fire danger. With as stormy as this spring has
been here in Arkansas, fire danger is low statewide, and there are no
burn bans. Now, that may change come August...but for now, those are 2 things we don't have to worry about.
Because of the storms, I have stayed up well past midnight the last 2 nights, trying to get computer work done.
But I rest my case. Unlike here, where thunderstorms are much less frequent.
I wonder how that "extreme" compares to what we call extreme here (mind you, people don't even begin to worry until fire danger gets to one
level below extreme ("severe"). And believe it or not, extreme isn't
even the highest fire danger. We also have "Code Red", which basically means that if anything gets going, it's unlikely to be stopped in the first attack, and if you're in a code red area and potentially exposed, leave early (like the night before or early in the morning - good time
for a vacation in the city). You and your house are unlikely to
survive a direct hit, no matter how well defended.
We have fire restrictions for typically 4 - 6 months of the year.

Much more reason NOT to have the fido node at home!I'd just worry about data getting hacked or lost in the cloud.
Regarding hacking it is exactly as likely as being hacked at home.
You control the measures, do the updates, etc.
Regarding data loss, it is usually more secure than at home.
They do this for a living, and have usually raid10.
As soon as one of the disks gets flaky it will be replaced.
You have to be VERY observant at home to get to the same level of data security.
This is true. But, right now, finances are tighter than a frog's
